MUTUAL RYTM NIGHT WITH SHDW & ANNĒ AT WE
Mutual Rytm is coming to Thessaloniki for the first time. On Saturday 21 November the label founded by SHDW brings its showcase to WE, with SHDW himself joined by ANNĒ, Sera J and Gaston NPR. Doors open at 23:58 and the Mutual Rytm night runs until 07:00.
What Is Mutual Rytm
Mutual Rytm launched at the end of 2021 with its first compilation, Federation Of Rytm I, and quickly became one of the labels driving the return of hardgroove and old school influenced techno. Its catalogue mixes established names with new talent, and artists like Blawan, Dax J, Mark Broom, Alarico and ANNĒ have all appeared on its releases. Mixmag covered the label’s second anniversary and its 30 track vinyl boxset, and the label nights have since travelled to ADE, Stone Techno and Glitch, as well as clubs across Europe.
SHDW Goes Solo
For about a decade SHDW (Marco Bläsi) was one half of SHDW & Obscure Shape, the Stuttgart duo behind the From Another Mind label, releases on Soma Records and Suara, and remixes for Radio Slave. In 2024 he went solo with a simple setup: him, his records, the decks and a mixer. His sets lean on a deep, carefully built record collection, and he moves easily between club basements and big festival stages, including a back to back at Tomorrowland this summer.
ANNĒ Comes Home
For many people in the city, the real headline is ANNĒ’s return. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, she started DJing in 2012 and has since become one of the most in demand techno artists to come out of Greece, playing Berghain, Bassiani, RSO, Fuse, Fold, Awakenings and Sónar. Her records have landed on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, Symbolism, Soma Records and Mutual Rytm, and this year she launched her own label, Blind Harmonies, together with Sera J. This is her first club show in Thessaloniki in almost two years.
Sera J and Gaston NPR
Sera J is another proud Thessaloniki resident and a key member of the Mutual Rytm family, where he and ANNĒ release the Symbiosis split series. This summer the pair were booked to close SonarClub, the biggest stage at Sónar, with a back to back set, and his tracks now turn up in the sets of some of the biggest techno DJs around. Rising local selector Gaston NPR opens the night.
Tickets and Venue
WE sits on Leoforos 3is Septemvriou close to the university, a short walk from the Panepistimio metro station. Tickets start from 10€ for early birds and move through phases of 15€, 18€ and 20€, with 25€ on the door, so booking early pays off. If the Mutual Rytm sound is your thing, also keep an eye on Hologram with AEREA and Philippa Pacho at Soul in December.
What to Expect
Expect hardgroove from start to finish: rolling percussion, punchy kicks and classic techno energy, played by artists who helped bring that sound back to the centre of the scene. Two videos below give you a feel for the night, one from SHDW and one from ANNĒ.
Why Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki has a long relationship with techno, from Reworks to a busy club scene, and it is also home to two of the artists on this bill. Bringing a Mutual Rytm showcase here closes a loop: ANNĒ and Sera J built much of their international profile through the label, and now the label comes to their own city. Nights like this help local crowds connect with the wider network their DJs are part of, and they show how much talent the city sends out to the rest of Europe every weekend.
